Did you buy Plane/Bus ticket?

When you buy a ticket, do not forget to look at the date on it. If you make mistake while buying a ticket, it could be a result as having wrong date. You should be carefully to avoid such a problem.

After your arriving in Turkey, if you travel intercity by bus or plane, you should obtain information about these cities. In addition, it has importance to buy bus or plane ticket before your travel. Also, it is important to check where your bus/plane will depart from.

You should pay attention to your luggage limit, if you travel by plane. In addition, do not forget that it is forbidden to take fluid, drilling and cutting goods in your hand luggage . We recommend you to prepare your hand luggage according to these rules and it should not be overweight luggage which lighter than 8 kg.

Did you get a student visa?

While you go to Turkey with the aim of having education, you have to have a student visa to enter in Turkey. For getting a student visa you should go to the Embassy or Consulate of Turkish Republic in your country.

For apply a student visa, you should have the “Letter of Acceptance” from your university in Turkey. You can realize visa procedure if you have “Letter of Acceptance”  at the Embassy or Consulate.

It may take a few days to get a student visa. Therefore, we recommend you to apply a student visa to the Embassy or Consulate at least 2-3 weeks before you are going to Turkey.

Did you get equivalence of your certificate?

When you register for the university as a student, it is needed to submit your equivalence of high school certificate. The purpose of this equivalence is proving that, your high school certificate is equivalent with the high school education in Turkey. For getting equivalence of your certificate, you should apply to Attache of Turkish Republic or Undersecretariat of Education of Turkish Republic with your original certificate and transcript that you got from your school.

If you live in Turkey, you can apply to the District Education Directorship with the same procedure to get equivalence.

If you graduated from a Turkish high school, there is no need for equivalence.

Did you prepare documents for registration?

After accepted to the university, during your registration you have to give some documents to the university. Below you can see an example list of the necessary documents. However, do not forget that it is an example list. You have to read carefully all terms in the letter of acceptance or on the website of the university and prepare all documents that are required by your university.

– Original of your certificate of high school and an approving copy from the Consulate and Embassy of Turkish Republic in your country,

– Equivalent document, which is taken from the Consulate and Embassy of Turkish Republic in your country, to indicate equivalency of your certificate with certificate of Turkish schools,

– Original and a copy of your transcript that are approved by the Consulate and Embassy of Turkish Republic in your country,

– Original and a copy of your exam result, which is approved by the Consulate and Embassy of Turkish Republic in your country,

– Bank receipt, which shows university payment was paid. Amount of bank receipt is decided every year by Council of Ministers,

– Turkish Language Proficiency Document, which is approved by the Consulate and Embassy of Turkish Republic in your country,

– 12 passport photos (size: 4*6 cm)

Did you arrange a dormitory or a place for your accommodation?

Before you come to Turkey, arranging the place, where you will live, removes problems that you run into. The expenses depend on a city that you live. The expenses for accommodation in big cities as Ankara, Istanbul, Izmir are much more than Anatolia.

International students in Turkey can stay in state or private dormitories. State dormitories belong to Credit and Dormitories Institution (KYK). The student, who want to stay in the state dormitories, can find information on website of KYK. Also, you can reach private dormitories via our website and can pre-register for it. In this case, you can solve the problem of accommodation before coming to Turkey.

Costs of private dormitories are between 700 – 2500 TL per month. Usually rooms are for 1-4 people. This payment  includes meals in some dormitories but it is not included in some dormitories. Private dormitories of Turkey have differences because of their features. Usually, international students stay in the private dormitories with annual contract. However, some dormitories take payments of 2 semester cash in advance.

If you want to rent a home, do not forget that rent fee of a home has differences according to its place. Cost of renting a home in big cities changes between 700 – 3500 TL monthly, according to its comfort and place. The services of electricity, water, the Internet, telephone and  heating is not included in rent fee. Do not forget that you will additional cost for that services.
